19 March 2012
The 2012 National ACF Cross Country Championships was held at Warcop Training Area on Saturday 17th March. Organised by Cumbria ACF and by Lt Col John Wilson in particular the day ran even better than expected starting and finishing early. In near perfect conditions (overcast but not wet) runners from all ten regions competed in their various classes with individual winners spread across half of these regions. However Cross County is also a team event and strength in depth is what counts. Despite not having a single cadet in the first three of the Junior Boys event Eastern still won the Junior Boys team event. In fact Eastern then went on to win all of the team events picking up the overall Competition winners cup as well. Scotland sent down a strong team and had five individual places including Cdt Holland winning the Intermediate Boys and L/Cpl Fraser winning the Senior Girls’ events. Prizes were presented by the Chief Constable of Cumbria Mr Stewart Hyde.
