This summer cadets from Hampshire & Isle of Wight ACF, South East London ACF and Cleveland ACF formed a small band to tour Army Cadet annual camps taking place in Yorkshire and Northumbria to promote music to the ACF.
The band was hosted by Cleveland ACF at Wathgill Camp. The cadets' tour took them from Warcop (Warwickshire ACF) to Strensall (Suffolk ACF) and Otterburn (Greater Manchester ACF).
Directed by Major Tex Calton National Executive Officer for Bands, the band performed in the cookhouse at each location to entertain cadets and adult volunteers. At the same time, Lieutenant Colonel Mike Neville, National Training Officer for Bands, briefed the County Commandant and Senior Officers on the many benefits of having a musical detachment.
Colonel Bob Jammes, Colonel Cadet Music said, "The tour was a great success and has already resulted in counties wishing to have more musical units."
