The Variety of Essex Army Cadets

9 August 2017

A Mixed Day of Activities

The Star 4 Drill cadre spent the morning refining their personal drill before the culmination of their week-long drill course - being assessed whilst drilling the squad.

At the same time our junior cadres were experiencing fieldcraft with two days living in the field where they learnt how to build an improvised shelter, field hygiene and the all-important cooking in the field.

Low level section attack tactics were the order of the day, testing weapon handling skills and building physical fitness, the building blocks of future fieldcraft exercises.

Army Cadets is all about offering opportunities to young people to challenge their limits, become more independent, confident and able to step up to any challenge. So, on this Annual Camp, we are pleased to have been able to offer to a group of our senior cadets, the opportunity to sign up to a pilot course for the Institute of Leadership and Management Level 2 for Young Leaders.
