WILTSHIRE (WILTS) ARMY CADET FORCE (ACF) RESIDENTIAL ANNUAL SUMMER CAMP -

LYDD KENT FROM SATURDAY 23 JULY TO WEDNESDAY 3 AUGUST 2022

Wilts ACF are pleased to announce that this year’s Annual Summer Camp will take place from Saturday 23 July to Wednesday 3 August 2022. This letter provides information about the event and gives you the detail to apply for a place(s) for your child(ren). You will have hopefully received some details about this year’s camp already, via the parental/guardian questionnaire (Survey Monkey) that we invited parents/ guardians to complete. If you did not attempt the survey (which closed on 20 February) this will not prevent you from applying for a place now, as the questionnaire purely gauged interest to allow early planning on our behalf.

Annual Summer Camp 2022 will be held at Lydd, Romney Marsh, Kent TN29 9JR. Attending cadets will be able to participate in various activities, including the new Army Cadet Syllabus training (at the appropriate Star level), a military fieldcraft exercise, an expedition, shooting, sports, and a full day of adventurous training, to include fun water-based activities.

The parental contribution for camp has been set at £95.00 per cadet (a slight increase on previous years). To guarantee a place on Summer Camp 2022, you must complete the enclosed Parental Consent Form for your child(ren) and hand it into their ACF Detachment. This must be done no later than Sunday 15 May 2022, to enable activities to be booked, however, you are strongly encouraged to return the form as soon as possible. If you have more than 1 child who is a member of Wilts ACF, please use a separate form for each cadet.

An acknowledgment will be sent via email to all parents/guardians/carers as soon as their child’s application is received at the HQ. As a reminder and in case parents are unaware, in order to be eligible to attend an annual camp, cadets must have attended at least one residential weekend prior to 4 July 2022.

Payment for Summer Camp may be made by debit/credit card, cheque, or cash* and must be made no later than Sunday 15 May 2022. Please indicate your preferred method of payment, when returning the enclosed form and do not send cash through the post - Wilts ACF will not accept liability should any cash payments not be received. Cash payments should only be made in person and a receipt obtained. If opting to pay by Debit/Credit Card, a separate invoice will be sent to the email address provided on the application form. Cheques are to be made payable to ‘Wilts ACF’. You will understand that we will need to make advanced payments to activity providers, therefore payments are unlikely to be reimbursed, should a cadet fail to attend annual camp or is sent home.

However, a full refund will be made should the camp be canceled for reasons beyond the control of Wilts ACF (e.g. Covid).

If your child receives free school meals, you will be able to obtain a discount against the parental contribution, if you can provide evidence of eligibility (e.g. award letter from the Local Authority). It will also be possible to pay by installments over the coming months, please advise DetachmentStaff.

If you have any questions, concerns, or issues relating to your child(ren) attending the annual camp or the parental contribution we are asking for, please do not hesitate to contact Detachment staff or Wilts ACF Headquarters. The Health and Safety of cadets and adult volunteers remains our highest priority.

We will strictly adhere to all Covid-19 secure recommended measures, to make residential training as safe as possible and keep up to date with guidelines as they change in the run-up to and during AnnualSummer Camp. Parents/Guardians will be asked to complete a Medical Declaration before cadets will be permitted to attend the event. It is important that all dietary requirements and any medical conditions and medication is declared.

There were significant issues during last year’s residential annual camp, where eating disorders and medical conditions were not fully disclosed beforehand. Closer to the Annual Summer Camp start date, you will be asked to provide parent/guardian contact details for the duration of the event, Details of transport pick up / drop off points and a packing/kit list will also be provided at this time.

We very much look forward to receiving your application form and sincerely hope that your child(ren) are able to join us at this year’s Annual Summer Camp
