The two-day workshop was filled with practical, interactive coaching, information, advice and guidance from the CVQO team and included sessions on apprenticeships, defining personal skills, CV writing and interview skills as well as time with employers to learn out more about challenges and opportunities in the workplace.

All cadets who attended also had the opportunity to complete a CVQO-led BTEC Level 2 workbook 1, putting them on the path to gaining the full Teamwork and Personal Development in the Community qualification.

The programme of CVQO Work & Apprentice Ready workshops has worked closely with colleges/universities and businesses including BT Openreach, the NHS, Babcock International and HMRC, as well as the PR and communications, digital engineering, software development, hotel, catering and social care sectors.

Steve Taylor, from CVQO said: “The response from the cadets has been excellent and they have all clearly valued the opportunity to improve their employability skills - they all know how competitive it is in the workplace and any advantage they can make for themselves is hugely beneficial.

“Equally, the employers who have kindly supported our networking sessions have all been incredibly impressed with the calibre and confidence of the cadets.

“It’s been a fantastic showcase for a superb talent pool of young people. Some of the cadets have already indicated they are actively following up apprenticeship and employment opportunities ready for when they finish their current studying.”

Major Richard Wooley, Sector Training Officer, Middx and NW Sector London ACF said: “The event was a hugely positive and effective way for cadets from Middlesex & NW London to identify and develop their employability skills in a supportive environment, being delivered by a highly-experienced CVQO team.

The practical sessions were really invaluable for all the cadets who attended; they now have a better understanding how to produce a cracking CV and know what to expect during the interview process.

“I am confident the cadets who attended this workshop now have a working understanding of the recruitment process and the skills to be excellent candidates for a job of their choice.“
