We are delighted to announce that Major Darren Hughes has been appointed as the Army Cadets first ever National Diversity and Inclusivity Adviser.

In his new national volunteer role, Darren will build on the diversity and inclusivity work delivered by the ACF Step Change project. The role will also see Darren promoted to Lt Col as he leads a network of volunteer Regional Diversity and Inclusivity Advisers who together will look for new ways to increase awareness of diversity and inclusivity at all levels of the Army Cadets, with a focus on celebrating, educating and recognising the diverse nature of the organisation.

Speaking about his new role, Darren said, “I am exceptionally proud to have been appointed as the ACF's first ever National Diversity and Inclusivity Adviser.

“Having been the Bde Cdt D&I Adviser for 51 Infantry Brigade in Scotland for the past 10 months, I am now very much look forward to working in close collaboration with the ACF family across the UK to strengthen our resolve, taking forward the great work already undertaken by the ACF Step Change Team.

I am extremely passionate about Diversity & Inclusion and will stop at nothing to embed Diversity & Inclusion into the very core of our great organisation”
