Yorkshire (North and West) ACF is one of the largest Cadet Counties in the UK, its aim is to inspire young people to achieve success in life, to develop them both physically and mentally by improving self-confidence, teamwork, leadership and not forgetting great friendships. We welcome cadets of all abilities and backgrounds that are able to access the majority of its activities.
As a Cadet you have a fantastic opportunity to gain some life changing skills, vocational qualifications such as the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme to BTEC First Diplomas. The ACF offers a wide diversity of fun, exciting and adventurous opportunities all of which can help in working and school life.
Our County Headquarters is situated within The Queen Elizabeth Barracks, Strensall, York. Here, our full time support staff keep the day-to-day business of the Cadet Training Centre running smoothly, some of which are also Cadet Force Adult Volunteers
Yorkshire (North and West) Army Cadet Force comprises of five Companies covering the Counties of North and West Yorkshire. A Company (HQ in Northallerton), covers the most of North Yorkshire from Scarborough/Whitby across to Northallerton and Catterick. B Company (HQ in York) cover in and around the York/Harrogate/Selby area as well as far south as Castleford. C Company (HQ in Bradford) cover the Leeds and Bradford area. D Company (HQ in Huddersfield) covers Kirklees and Calderdale area as well as some parts of Bradford as the Craven District and finally E (THE RIFLES) Company (HQ in Wakefield) and they cover the surrounding area such as Ossett and Pontefract.
All the Detachments within Yorkshire (North & West) ACF are linked to a number of different regiments/corps, and its with these regiments that the Cadets have the pride and honour of wearing their capbadge... some of these Regiments and Corps are as follows:
