The cadets from Waterloo Company are a fantastic group of dedicated cadets who took part in fieldcraft over their weekend camp on 16-18 February. Even the heavy rain couldn't dampen their spirits as they braved the elements during their afternoon activities.

Fieldcraft plays a vital role in shaping the cadets, teaching them valuable skills in navigation, camouflage, and survival techniques that are essential for completing their star levels from the Army Cadet Syllabus (ACS 21).

The resilience and determination displayed by the Waterloo Company Cadets in the face of adverse weather conditions exemplify the core values instilled in them through their training. The Waterloo Company Cadets demonstrated the discipline, perseverance, and passion that define the Army Cadets.

An additional six cadets were taken through their 2-star shooting on the small-bore weapon. All 6 cadets passed thanks to the final coaching by Capt Paul Anderton and his team of dedicated adult volunteers. One of the cadets, Cadet Cpl Kalu, passed her Marksmanship with an impressive score of 261 points.

Capt Anderton said “This impressive score shows Cadet Cpl Kalu’s dedication and skill in shooting. Achieving a score higher than the required 250 points demonstrates a high level of proficiency and commitment to excellence in marksmanship training within the Army Cadets”.

Well done to all the cadets for your continued dedication to learn new skills. Your participation in activities such as fieldcraft and marksmanship not only demonstrates your willingness to step out of your comfort zone but also showcases your eagerness to learn and grow. The skills you are acquiring through these experiences are invaluable and will undoubtedly contribute to your personal development and success. Keep up the fantastic work, stay focused on your goals, and continue to push yourselves to new heights of achievement. Your dedication is truly inspiring and sets a great example for the younger cadets to follow.

Whilst the cadets were training so too were some of our newer Cadet Force Adult Volunteers. Without their commitment and dedication, the cadet experience and training could not take place so to them, a huge thank you for giving up your time to volunteer with Greater Manchester ACF.
