Meon Valley Food Bank has been supporting the local Community since 2015. As with a lot of charities, 2020 has proven difficult to raise funds and collect donations, which is why the support of Bishops Waltham Detachment was so important. Throughout December, Cadets, Parents and Staff has been collecting and donating items to the Food Bank to support those in need. This support has enabled Meon Valley to provide food parcels to over 80 people in need in the local area.

Cadet H Small of Bishops Waltham Detachment said "The detachment was pleased to support this amazing charity, especially as it supports our local community in these hard times. We hope we can continue to support this and other local charities in the future".

Non-Uniformed Volunteer, Mrs D Sharpe, proposed the idea after hearing about the food shortage in the area's Food Bank. She said "I mentioned it to the cadets on a parade evening and they were more than willing to support. In fact they all looked to their families to support too". The Food Bank provided the Detachment with a list of items they were short of to work from.

Normandy Company's 2IC, Capt C Hargrave praises the Community Spirit of Bishops Waltham Detachment. "Thank you to all those who supported the Cadets and Meon Valley Food Bank during this difficult time; a fantastic initiative."
