Major Andy Pilling, Company Commander, No 3 (Somme) Company

After over 14 months away from Cadets, the cadets of Stockport Detachment No 3 (Somme) Company, finally returned to their Detachment.

Sadly, a number were still not allowed to parade due to having to self-isolate from school. Since lockdown also a large number had also attained the age of 18 years and so have had to leave.

A small number to start with attended. Some in uniform and some needing new uniforms, as they have grown in the year since last being at Detachment.

They were welcomed by the Officer Commanding, Major Pilling, Company Sergeant Major SMI Woodward and Detachment Commander SI Smith.

Following a refresher in drill the cadets and the staff spoke about what they had missed and what they would like from cadets in the near future and future.

A small gathering of cadets, but a big moment for No 3 (Somme) Company, opening the doors for the first time since lockdown to the cadets of Stockport. Next week the rest of the Company Detachments will again open their doors. Reddish, Bredbury, Cheadle Hulme, Rusholme and Levenshulme. the Detachment Commanders will this week be contacting all parents and Guardians of the dates they will reopen.

Once the Detachments are open, we will then welcome new recruits, who have patiently been waiting to join.
