During the cold snap in mid December the cadets from Levensulme Detachment were discussing just how cold it was, even the toilets in the detachment froze solid. A couple of them approached me and asked how they could help those who were out in the cold. The idea for Christmas shoe boxes was born.

The cadets collected warm hats, gloves, socks, basic toiletries and treats such as biscuits and chocolate. The boxes were wrapped and were offered to the Salvation Army lifehouses. They directed us to The Wellspring in Stockport as the Premier Charity in Greater Manchester for the homeless where it was felt the care packages could do most good.

The staff at The Wellspring were very happy to receive them and said they will ensure they go to those in greatest need.

Great work everyone.
