Recently, a group of recently commissioned officers took the next step in their cadet journey as they continued their Initial Officer Training (IOT) at the esteemed Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst. Among them were 2nd Lieutenants Barrie Reid, Susan Williams, and James Heyward, who successfully completed the rigorous IOT course designed to enhance their leadership skills and practical experience.

Barrie Reid, reflecting on the experience, expressed his anticipation for returning to Sandhurst, emphasising the unique atmosphere steeped in history. Sandhurst, with its storied legacy, has been the training ground for notable figures such as Churchill and Montgomery. The officers engaged in role-playing scenarios, shared experiences, and received an inspirational talk from Jordan Wylie, the ACF National Ambassador. The culmination of their training was marked by a Regimental dinner in the Indian memorial room, creating a memorable bonding experience underscored by a harpist's melodies. Barrie conveyed his surprise at finding himself in such a distinguished position, stating, "I never thought in my ACF career that I would end up becoming an Officer, let alone doing my training at Sandhurst! This course is possibly one of my favourite things I've done as a volunteer in the ACF."

Susan Williams found the course both challenging and rewarding, highlighting the development of valuable skills, particularly the ability to adapt and adjust to changing circumstances—a quality she believes will be invaluable not only in her cadet career but also in her broader professional journey.

James Heyward echoed the sentiment, describing his time at Sandhurst as amazing. He appreciated the opportunity to meet officers from around the country, forging connections that endure beyond the training. James encountered one of his former cadets on the same path toward becoming an officer in the Army Air Corps, adding a personal touch to his Sandhurst experience. He concluded by recommending the course to upcoming officers, emphasizing the acquisition of new leadership skills applicable not only to cadets but also to their future careers.

In essence, the continuation of Initial Officer Training at Sandhurst has proven to be a transformative and unforgettable experience for these officers, solidifying their commitment to leadership and service.
