RSM Gallagher's New Year Address.

Happy New Year to you all, I trust you all had a good Christmas!

RSM Gallagher's New Year Address.

8 January 2024

  • Buckinghamshire ACF

2024 looks like it is going to be a great year for Buckinghamshire (The Rifles) Army Cadet Force. We already have a jam-packed calendar of events to look forward to with the likes of Company weekends, JCIC, First Aid events including the second annual First Aid Competition with commitment already in place from Bucks Fire and Rescue and South-Central Ambulance. We will also have more chances to build on the success in our sporting endeavours. Following on from November, when we won medals at the National Swimming, the Regional football is fast approaching at the end of January, with opportunities in rugby, cross country and many more to come throughout the year.

This year we will also see a few new changes coming into the organisation. These changes come in the form of the Army Cadet Dress Regulations to ensure a more uniformed appearance across the Cadet Force. Myparent app will be launched in the first few months which should assist parents in booking cadets on to events and getting consent without the need for countless forms, fingers crossed.

Then where would the cadet force be without a look forward to the highlight of our year, Annual Camp 2024! Colonel Holder has secured us a 2 week camp at Crowborough in Sussex. We will have a wide range of activities to take part in whilst on camp, from shooting, field exercises, syllabus testing, adventurous training and competitions day, including the most revered, Fred Sullivan Drill Competition and the crowning of the “CHAMPION COMPANY” – who will it be this year?

We have a great and exciting year ahead; I hope to see as many of you as possible on my visits to Platoons and Company Weekends in the coming months and see you all at Annual Camp 24!

Yours Sincerely,

RSM Gallagher, Buckinghamshire (The Rifles) Army Cadet Force
