The Cadet Forces Warrant was introduced on 17 August 2020.
The Warrant has been awarded to every adult volunteer on promotion to Sergeant Major Instructor (SMI) in the Army Cadets this included those who had already achieved and held the rank of SMI.
The Cadet Forces Warrant recognizes the value placed by the MOD on our senior non-commissioned CFAVs and the effort and achievement required to reach this rank.
CFAVs promoted to this rank will received the warrant in the future.
The concept of a Cadet Forces Warrant follows from the work to establish the Cadet Forces Commission and has been approved by the Secretary of State for Defence, the Rt Hon Ben Wallace MP.
The Cadet Forces Warrant is designed to be a tangible recognition for CFAVs to retain during and after their time with the Cadet Forces.
