Following successful completion of the IOT training course at the weekend, Alexander “Sandy” Mathers has been promoted to the rank of Captain effective from Tuesday 23rd January 2024 in recognition of his past experience as a SNCO having previously been Battalion RSMI and as acting RSM at Annual Camp more than once over his long career with the Army Cadets here in North East Scotland.As Captain, he is now appointed as the new Officer Commanding for Vittoria Company with ten Detachments coming under his responsibility, seven in Aberdeen City including Drums & Pipes and three others located in Stonehaven, Banchory and Aboyne. The role of the OC is a demanding one but having acted as the Assistant Battalion Training Officer for several years now, Capt Mathers is keen to bring his skills and drills to managing the largest Company within 2HLDRS ACF. For the time being he will retain the ABTO role as well as he transitions into this new position.On behalf of the Battalion, we wish him every success with this new challenge and know he will have the firm support of all those involved.
