No 5 (Anzio) Company Camp

13 April 2022

  • Greater Manchester ACF

SMI Ian Mackie, Sergeant Major Instructor, Adult Training Team

Over No 5 (Anzio) company weekend the new adult volunteers (PI’s) completed skill at arms, weapon handling tests, fieldcraft which included an overnight stay under bashers. Six of the adults completed sometime on sentry duty for the ranges and all had a shot at Archery.

Congratulations to PI Abigail Horner on her promotion to SI. The final part of her Advanced Induction Course (AIC) required her to complete an overnight stay under a basher. This was achieved on Saturday evening.

Many thanks to SSI Peter Lloyd for his able assistance and also to the Lancs ACF instructors who were also on camp delivering PI training. We offered assistance to each other over the weekend.

Capt Fiona Short, Company Training Officer, No 5 (Anzio) Company

88 cadets from No 5 (Anzio) Company. Amazing. Lots of 2- and 3-star shooting passes. 1 star shooting passes and 1 star skill at arms passes. Excellent behaviour from cadets & not 1 incident!

Excellent PI training by SMI Mackie and brilliant teamwork with staff from No 2 (Kohima) and No 3 (Somme) Company as well as HQ.

Promotions for cadets, including a promotion for Cadet Staff Sergeant Amelia Sculthorpe to Cadet CSM Amelia Sculthorphe and a visit from Padre Hugh Bearne.

SI Sean Crompton was also presented with his 12 years long service medal for his dedicated volunteering with Greater Manchester ACF.
