The cadets at Aldergrove Detachment “got off to a flying start” to the new year with the offical rebadging to The Army Air Corps on the 8th February!
This was a momentous evening for the cadets, who are the newest Detachment within both C Company & 1st (NI) Battalion Army Cadet Force, having previously cap badged the Corps of Royal Engineers. Also in attendance were Commandant Col Donnell, Assistant Commandant John Read, RSM Johnston and Padre Hibbert along with company headquarters staff and parents.
The ‘re-badging’ will provide the Aldergrove Detachment’s cadets with the opportunity to build on their training and be supported by a new regimental affiliation with the Army Air Corp, as 5 Regiment Army Air Corps is part of the Joint Helicopter Command (JHC) also based in Aldergrove.
The cadets were excited to receive their blue Army Air Corps Berets, which makes the cadets really stand out. The evening was also a great opportunity for the cadet’s parents to meet with the ACF volunteers and hear all about the Detachments achievements.
Lt Andrea Miniss, Aldergrove Detachment Commander, said:
“It was a great evening and we were pleased to welcome the cadet Commandant to our Detachment for his first visit.
The Aldergrove cadets have had a wonderful first year and we look forward to many more achievements in the future”.
