Last Thursday evening, the County Commandant, Colonel Hugh Gell, and the RSM, RSMI Terry Yates, visited Strensall Detachment to present the new rank slide to the (now) former Cadet CSM of B Company.
While making the presentation, the Commmandant noted that Cadet RSM Clark was the fourth Cadet RSM to be appointed from Strensall Detachment, perhaps a record for a single detachment. She is preceded by Major Amber Chadwick, Lt Natalie Dixon and Miss Kennedy.
The promotion was a surprise to Cadet RSM Clark, but not to the members of B Company's HQ staff (and former Cadet RSM, Olivia Kennedy) who were all 'coincidentally' visiting the detachment the same evening... ;-)
It was also a surprise to Cadet RSM Clark's father, Captain Mal Clark, who is B Company's Permanent Support Staff (PSS). He is a former RSM of the Prince of Wales's Own Regiment of Yorkshire, so reaching this highly-valued rank certainly appears to run in the family!
Cadet RSM Clark will be combining her new role with her A-level studies, and will also soon be participating in the prestigious Master Cadet course at the National Cadet Training Centre at Frimley Park in Surrey.
Congratulations to the new Cadet RSM!
