The Army Sportsperson of the Year awards were held at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS) in November and, this year, Army Sport decided to introduce a new Sportsperson Award of the Year for an Army cadet.
After winning a number of ACF Sports national championships during 2022 (including individual Long Jump and 1500 metres, and Team Orienteering), as well as being a national finalist in cross-country and a triple gold medallist at the regional swimming competition, Cadet Sgt McCosh was a clear candidate for selection for the ACF Sportsperson award.
The Officer Commanding (OC) A Company, Major Paul Mathers, has said: “Sgt McCosh is certainly not a typical cadet. Her achievements, however, are an outstanding example of how sports can change the lives of our army cadets - through sport, their health and well-being improve, and they become much more confident in their outlook in life.”
We are delighted to hear that Cadet Sgt McCosh is looking forward to defending her national titles in 2024!
