During his visit, the Mayor was given an insight into the 'Cadet Experience' offered by YNW ACF. He observed the cadets taking part in Drill lessons, Skill at Arms instruction, basic Navigation skills and First Aid instruction.
Major Gavin Atherton, Officer Commanding D Company, gave the Mayor an overview on the activities on offer as part of the Cadet Experience. The Mayor was also shown the locations covered by the Detachments in D Company's area of responsibility, covering Kirklees and the surrounding areas.
As well as meeting Major Atherton and the Cadets, the Mayor took time to chat with the Detachment CFAVs. It was a marvellous evening for all concerned, with the Mayor being very impressed with what the Army Cadet Force has to offer the youth in the local area.
