Between 14 - 20 October 2023 E Company Cadet Company Sergeant Major (Cdt CSM) Samuel Shackleton successfully completed the Master Cadet course at Cadet Training Centre Frimley Park.
Being named as a Master Cadet is the pinnacle of a cadet's time in the ACF, they have successfully passed their star levels, gained so much knowledge in their journey, become a role model to junior cadets. But before they can be called Master Cadet they have to complete the Master Cadet Course.
Established in 1989, the aim of the Master Cadet Course is to broaden and develop further the leadership, instructional and administrative responsibilities of 4-star cadets, with the intention of making better use of their abilities.
The week was extremely physically and mentally challenging, temperatures were freezing over night on the exercise phase and cadets were exhausted after completing a 24 hour STAG duty.
Cdt CSM Shackleton said to anyone looking to attend the Master Cadet Course: "be prepared to push yourself and don't hold back".
Waltham DC Sam Atkin said "We are all very proud of CSM Shackleton, he has worked hard towards his goals these past 18 months. He continues to be a committed cadet and role model both at detachment and in E Company and we are pleased to share his success on Master Cadet."
