The poppy has been a symbol of Remembrance for over 100 years. Our Armed Forces risked everything to protect our way of life. This year the Manvers Residents Association have sponsored a display to honour their sacrifice and Mexborough detachment went along to help out.
Cadets from Mexborough Detachment helped to attach the poppies on lampposts along Manvers Way for everyone to see.
Cadets were shown a lot of appreciation from local traffic by drivers beeping horns in appreciation and people saying thanks as they walked their dogs or riding along Manvers Way on their bikes.
The displays start at the roundabout next to the boating lake and go all the way up past Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) Dearne Valley - Old Moor.
Cadet Lance Corporal Michael Goodyear Said: " it felt good to be part of this knowing these poppies will be seen by many".
