It is with enormous pride that I am able to announce that the prestigious honour, the League of Mercy Medal, has been awarded to Major Jim Burns for nearly 50 years of dedicated service to the Cadets of Cumbria. This is a very rare achievement by an Adult Volunteer and Jim will receive his award in London later this year.

Our Honorary Colonel Peter McCall wrote the following message to Major Burns:

I am thrilled to learn that you have been awarded the League of Mercy Medal for your distinguished and outstanding service to Cumbria ACF. This is a great honour and most richly deserved after a lifetime of selfless service and commitment to the young folk of our county. You have been an incredible role model, mentor and no doubt surrogate parent to countless boys and girls touching their lives in a positive way, this award rightly recognises your service of which you should be so proud.

Many many congratulations on this achievement and thank you most sincerely for your service.

Very well done!

Peter

We will mark Jim's award at Summer Camp but please join me in giving him our most sincere congratulations for the commitment he has shown to our children.
