Recently, Merseyside Army Cadets from 1 Company got the opportunity of a lifetime when they attended Southport's War Memorial re-dedication, where HRH The Princess Royal was in attendance.

Her Royal Highness Princess Anne visited Southport in her capacity as President of the Women’s Section of the Royal British Legion to re-dedicate the town's war memorial.

Before the re-dedication, which was directed by the Archbishop of Liverpool, there was a parade which was led by the Band of the Royal Air Force College and made up of Armed Forces personnel and Veterans from all three services.

During the visit HRH The Princess Royal laid a wreath and reviewed the front rank of each marching contingent, which included some very excited Merseyside Army Cadets!

The Southport Memorial which honours those who lost their lives from WW1 through to the present day will be 100 years old on 18th November this year, having been originally unveiled in 1923 by the Earl of Derby and local children of the fallen in WW1.
