Over the last 12 days, Norfolk ACF has hosted 40 international cadets at its Cadet Training Centre in Thetford, Norfolk. Cadets and adults travelled from Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland to undertake a 12 day exchange programme with UK cadets, this year being hosted by Norfolk ACF.
During the exercise, the cadets had cultural visits to London and some of its military museums, Adventurous Training (AT) at Whitlingham Broad where they all tried sailing, paddleboarding and kayaking alongside laser shooting and paintball. After the AT, the cadets got the chance to do some shooting with the UK's SA80A2, 12 bore shotgun and cadet air rifle. This was then followed by a two day green phase out on the area with a round robin of fieldcraft assessments and concluded with a two day STEM interest session. This included Cyber Security activities, a visit to Norwich Research Park and Muckleborough Tank Collection on the beautiful North Norfolk coast.
The cadets were in mixed nationality sections and troops where they all got to improve their communication and team work skills across a variety of tasks and situations over the 12 days.
It was clear that the international and national cadets have made friends for life and have had an enjoyable time with their international counterparts.
