A local Army Cadet Volunteer from Elgin has had their efforts in keeping morale up within the Battalion rewarded.

Staff Sergeant Instructor Graeme Wells (29), who volunteers with the 1st Battalion The Highlanders Army Cadet Force, was presented with a Colonel Cadets Coin for Excellence keeping the cadet force in the spotlight over lockdown.

SSI Wells, who is the Battalion’s Public Relations Officer as well as the Detachment Commander of the cadets in Elgin, was nominated to receive a coin for his hard work in keeping the Battalion in the spotlight on Social Media and in the Papers, promoting and highlighting good news stories of what cadets and adults had been achieving over the last 18 months throughout the pandemic.

The Colonel Cadets Coin for Excellence is awarded by Colonel Cadets 51 Brigade and is awarded to recipients, either Cadet, Adult Volunteer or Supporter who might not normally receive recognition for their efforts.

Graeme was presented with his coin at his Detachment on Wednesday evening in front of the Elgin cadet by Moray Company Commander, Major Raymond Cameron.
