The Duke of Edinburgh Award not only provides an internationally recognised qualification, but it is also a superb platform to develop important skills and qualities such as leadership, teamwork, discipline, confidence to name a few, just some of the many reasons.
Over the weekend, 15-17 October, saw cadets from the County take part in their long-awaited Duke of Edinburgh Award practice expedition. 18 cadets from No 4 (Korea) and No 5 (Anzio) Company all completing their silver practice expedition. The three groups successfully completed the two day and two-night expedition in some very challenging conditions which tested their skills taught in the build up to the weekend. All three groups faced most of the elements in 1 day, wind, rain and sunshine but they completed the weekend with smiles on their faces and showed great determination and resilience.
The groups will be back at the training centre this coming weekend, 22-24 October, and will be joined by cadets form No 3 (Somme) Company ready to complete their three-day qualifying expedition.
