This weekend Cadet's from Dorset Army Cadet Force attended Tankfest in Bovington. Braving the weather and the crowds the Cadets not only enjoyed the displays, the stalls and more importantly the food court.
They took part on centre stage performing 4 drill demonstrations, and encouraged the public to join in, actively recruited for the ACF and assisted in seating the crowds in the grandstands.Saturday was very busy recruiting adults and cadets not only for Dorset ACF but also for Somerset, Devon, Yorkshire and Merseyside.
Sunday started with a personal presentation just for the cadets on why lightweight small Armoured Fighting Vehicles are important in todays military, delivered by Lt Col (retired) Whitchurch RE
Lt Col Whitchurch stated “ he was impressed by the cadets baring and turnout and thanked all CFAVs for their work “
The Commandant Colonel Dick Taylor also received similar praise for the cadets at the event. Colonel Taylor spent time at the event delivering lectures and he watched the cadets drill demonstrations from afar with a keen eye and shared some top tips with the senior cadets before they join the military. He also commented on how smart and well turned out the cadets were.
A special thanks go to West Company who made up the majority of the Cadet and Adult contingent and had a hand in organising it from the Cadets side.
