Cdt LCpl Niquita Potter, a 17 year old cadet with Down Syndrome from South Devon, set out before Christmas to take part in Colonel Cadets' challenge and raise a modest £50 for the 'Walking For The Wounded' veterans' charity.

So, on 5 December, Niquita walked an impressive 14 miles around the Haytor area of the South Moor, ending her expedition at the Newton Abbot War Memorial.

However, when word got out about Niquita's efforts, her fundraising target was very quickly surpassed, reaching an astonishing £1,362.48 in total.

Niquita was soon overwhelmed with praise and plaudits from across the ACF, including receiving a personal letter from both the CO of 5 Rifles (deployed to Estonia), and Commander Cadet, Major General David Eastman MBE.

"Tonight Niquita’s OC was kind enough to drop off this letter which has come all the way from Estonia. To say Skeets is proud of herself is an understatement. Her jaw was almost on the floor when I read it to her and showed her on the map where it had come from."

Cdt LCpl Potter exemplifies the values and standards of the Army Cadet Force, and we are proud to be able to call her a member of our Devon ACF family.

We done Corporal, and keep up the great work!
