Day Two Annual Camp 2021 – No 1 (Minden) Company

15 August 2021

  • Greater Manchester ACF

SMI Debbie Callaghan, County PRO

The day begun with breakfast before being issued with a packed lunch for a day out of camp to practice navigation and map reading skills.

Greater Manchester ACF are lucky to have so many lovely areas to walk around the area outside of Holcombe Moor Training Camp for the cadets and staff to enjoy. The cadets all said they enjoyed the walk as the majority have never walked around the area they spent today. It was also nice to speak to local people that we met who said hello and wanted to know more about the cadets. This included a cheeky horse who refused to walk past the cadets as he was looking for carrots. As there was none available, SMI Mike Toner fed the horse his apple from his packed lunch which the horse enjoyed and then agreed to continue his walk with his owner. (A big smile here)

On return to camp the cadets had time to take out the County STEM kits, (Science Technology Engineering Maths) before their evening meal. Using the STEM kits uses so many skills, including teamwork and thinking outside the box. They are a great training aid for the cadets to use on camps.

Another great day for No 1 (Minden) Company. The next two days will be spent on Adventurous Training.

Thank you to the cadets and staff who took some of the photos whilst on their walk.

All pictures from Day 2 can be found on our County Facebook.

Please note: All activities are conducted under Army Cadet Covid-19 Guidance.
