100 cadets and the Adult Volunteers, from D Company's 9 Detachments, attended a training and testing weekend which resulted in many Army Cadet Syllabus subject passes and promotions in rank.
One Star cadets enjoyed an adventurous training taster session in off road cycling, completed assessments in first aid, foot drill and military knowledge, and got competitive during Laser Target shooting and Tag Archery activities.
Two Star cadets earned their Shooting badges, with .22 target rifles, on the indoor range. They also underwent revision and testing in foot drill and military knowledge.

Cadets and CFAVs enjoyed their first weekend away in 2024
Three Star cadets had their physical limits tested during circuits involving tyre runs, sprints and crawling under tarpaulines. They were further tested during section attacks on the grassy slopes on the fieldcraft area. Back in camp, they prepared and presented Mercian Regiment history to their peers.
On final parade the officer commanding D Company, Major Shergold, presented the long list of ACS Star level completions and shooting badges. The biggest smiles came from the cadets receiving promotions in rank! For some it was their first: Lance Corporal, whilst others received Corporal and Sergeant.
D Company are now preparing for their fieldcraft weekend in June!
