CELEBRATING CADET CPL CALLAGHAN!

ACCT UK is a charitable organisation that can trace its formation back to the 1920s. Over the years, it has provided millions of pounds to help both cadets and Adult Volunteers around the UK. Its Excellence Awards celebrate the achievements of ACF members in the Community, First Aid and Music.

Cadet Cpl William Callaghan, who parades at E Company's Normanton Detachment, got his award for services to his local community. Having recognised a need for more contributions to a much-used foodbank, he used his own initiative to set about collecting food and household items from the whole Company, as well as his school and a local business. He also organised their collection, as well as their delivery to the foodbank.

Cadet Cpl Callaghan carried this on for a extended period of time, bringing relief for those in need in his local community of Normanton. At the time, his mother said:

"To say I'm proud of my son is an understatement. You can see in the picture the huge collection he has managed to give to the Normanton food bank. A massive thanks to Avril, Laura, Donna, staff at Sirdar, families at Lee Brigg school and of course the cadets at Normanton, Fitzwilliam, Batley, Mirfield and Wakefield. You have all made this possible."

Of course, none of it would have been possible without Cadet Cpl Callaghan's initiative, inspiration and coordination - well done, and congratulations on receiving this award!
