Maj Eamonn Coogan MBE - Cadet Executive Officer

Eamonn Coogan a retired Major from the Royal Irish Regiment who continues to raise the profile of mental health issues for former and serving members of the military. In January 2022 he will celebrate his 60th birthday by reporting to the Army Selection Centre Pirbright and completing the physical selection criteria to the high standard which would have enable him to qualify to join any branch of the Army if he was 42 years younger.

Combat Stress is the UK’s leading charity for veterans’ mental health and for over a century, they have helped former servicemen and women with mental health problems such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety and depression.

Today they provide specialist treatment and support for veterans from every service and conflict, focusing on those with complex mental health issues.

Eamonn Coogan has been training for over 6 months to prepare him for this challenge but you can clearly see in the various images of him preparing.
