Cadet Sergeant Major Abigail Horner
Lord-Lieutenants Certificate for Meritorious Service for Cadets
Cadet Company Sergeant Major Abigail Horner joined Greater Manchester Army Cadet Force in March 2017, joining Bolton Royal Artillery Detachment. She quickly demonstrated her commitment, reliability, and pleasantness to her fellow cadets. Cadet Sergeant Major Horner has proven her leadership qualities by consistently setting a high standard for the younger cadets. Cadet Sergeant Major Horner transferred to Bolton Duke of Lancashire’s Regiment Detachment in order to support the unit and again quickly demonstrated her qualities to both cadets and staff. She completed the In0stitute of Leadership and Management Level 2 Qualification for Young Beaders in February 2019 and has achieved her bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award. In March 2020, Cadet Sergeant Major Horner completed the senior cadet instructor’s cadre and was appointed Cadet Company Sergeant Major in January 2021.
Cadet Sergeant Major Horner has a passion for competition shooting and has dedicated a great deal of time in improving her skills, particularly those associated with the cadet target rifle. She has attended events at county and regional level and has competed at this level. Cadet Sergeant Major Horner was selected to represent the United Kingdom Army Cadets in 2019 by taking part in the Royal Canadian Army Cadet Shooting Exchange for six weeks.
During the COVID pandemic Cadet Sergeant major Horner has continued to support both the company and county cadets. She is an example to all cadets, is respected and recognised as a mature young lady, and leader. Cadet Sergeant Major Horner is an asset to the Army Cadet Force.
