On Thursday 22nd February 2024, The Lord Lieutenant of South Glamorgan Awards were held at HMS Cambria in Cardiff.

During the evening, a number of Certificate of Merits were presented to various individuals from the Reserves and Cadets Forces by HM's Lord Lieutenant, Mrs Morfudd Meredith. The event was hosted by the Reserve Forces and Cadet Association (RFCA) Wales.

Captain. Chris Cooper was presented with a Certificate of Merit for his outstanding achievements.

Captain Chris Cooper of A Company, Dyfed and Glamorgan Army Cadet Force.

His journey began in 2016, and since then, he has consistently exhibited outstanding qualities that make him a true asset to organisation.

Captain Cooper is employed by the Combined Cadet Force in Cardiff and Vale College – he truly lives by the values and standards of the cadet forces! He is a loving husband to Emma and a devoted father to four children. This speaks to his remarkable ability to balance his personal and professional life, demonstrating a commitment to our values that is truly inspiring.

Captain Cooper is not only highly competent but also incredibly intelligent, possessing a profound understanding of the intricacies of the Army Cadets. His wealth of experience and knowledge within the organization has been a source of inspiration and guidance for both cadets and fellow volunteers.

Recently appointed as the Area Training Officer, Captain Cooper continues to exemplify his expertise in Army Cadets policies, procedures, and training methodologies. His dedication to his role is truly commendable, as he consistently strives to enhance the efficiency of our operations.

Captain Cooper's quick thinking and exceptional actions during a medical emergency in March 2023, where he successfully administered life-saving assistance, earned him a Royal Humane Society Resuscitation Certificate. This heroic act reflects his unwavering commitment to the welfare of others.

Captain Cooper's leadership has inspired countless cadets to step out of their comfort zones, while his patient and passionate mentorship has supported our adult volunteers in their growth within the Army Cadets. He is always willing to go the extra mile to ensure that no cadet is held back or disadvantaged.

Furthermore, Captain Cooper actively seeks opportunities to enhance his own knowledge and qualifications, consistently working towards benefiting the Company and his role as Area Training Officer.

For these reasons and more, we wholeheartedly nominate Captain Chris Cooper for the Certificate of Merit. His selfless commitment and unwavering dedication make him a shining example of the values we hold dear in the Army Cadet Force.
