It was with great anticipation that this year's Sector Open Day dawned in July for Greater London South East Sector Army Cadet Force, Commandant, Colonel Matthew Davis welcome staff, parents and honoured guests to Hollyhedge House to showcase what we have been doing in the sector and to celebrate the achievements of our cadets.
As well as the usual promotions and scroll presentations, this year was special in that it saw the re-badging of 4 of our cadet units. 102 and 95 re-badged from London Scottish to Scots Guards and 71 and 99 re-badged from London Irish to Irish Guards; a sad and poignant moment for all concerned but an exciting new beginning with a new beret to shape and wear too.
The Commandant welcomed everyone and invited them to enjoy and share a barbecue lunch with the sector giving guests and parents a chance to mingle and see what the cadets get up to with their detachments, all 3 companies were well represented. In addition a number of stands from the MoD Police, London Yeomanry, Royal Artillery and King's Troop were present for the cadets to enjoy. The weather held but was also not too hot and the Corps of Drums also did us proud.
