Annual Camp First Week

21 August 2022

  • Humberside And South Yorkshire ACF

Cadets and adults from across the Humberside and South Yorkshire area have gathered at CTC Driffield for our first full annual camp since the disruption of the last few years. Despite a last minute location change things have been going great.

This week the cadets have been very busy with training packages delivered by the adult staff. We have had cadets out in the field on the training area, busy learning skills in the camp and having fun at Adrenaline.

In the field cadets learnt how to erect shelters, cook rations and operate as part of a section in the field. They also honed their skills on the paintball range and had time for a game of pinecone rounders.

The 3 star cadets were a little further afield having deployed to Galtres training area. They have spent the week learning how to navigate in addition to conducting field training.

Back in camp the cadets have been covering a range of subjects with some very realistic looking injuries used to help with first aid training. The DCCT and the air rifle ranges have seen heavy use as the cadets in camp put their shooting skills to the test. We have also had other shooting parties heading off to the ranges at other camps to maximise the range time available.

It hasn't all been hard work though, with groups of cadets heading off to Adrenaline to take on the epic challenge of the Krypton Factor assault course, high ropes, Jacobs ladder and taking the ‘leap of faith’.

It has been an action packed week and the senior cadets are all raring to go for the second week as we welcome the second batch of one star cadets to camp for their week.

Have a look at the pictures below and if you think you would like to join the fun then sign up for Annual camp next year. Or if you are not already a cadet or adult volunteer click the "Join Now!" link above to find a detachment near you.
