Annual Camp 2023
Since Covid, the past two Annual Camp’s for Bedfordshire & Hertfordshire Army Cadet Force have been held at Bassingbourn Barracks and the Bassingbourn Cadet Training Centre but 2023 saw a change of location, down to Pirbright and Brunswick camp. Former home of the Guards Depot, Brunswick camp provided plenty of room for Bedfordshire & Hertfordshire Army Cadet Force to spread out and enjoy the local facilities, such as the Ash ranges and Hawley lake.
Cadets got the chance to visit Ash ranges, allowing them to fire the L98A2 Cadet GP rifle, some for the very first time. The cadets enjoyed the range time, with many passing their relevant star level shooting as well as many future shooting team potentials spotted. As well as shooting, cadets took part in navigation and Bronze NNAS and a Bronze DofE expedition.
The choice of Adventurous Training has grown year by year, and this year was no exception, as well as experiencing paddleboarding and kayaking, cadets had the chance to gain a British Canoeing Start Award. Cadets also had the chance to do archery and also mountain biking. Week one also saw the cadets enjoy riding motorcycles with Right Trax Motorcycle riding.
Whilst on Brunswick camp, cadets took part in Drill, utilizing the very same parade square used for rehearsals each year for Trooping the Colour as well as air rifle shooting on an indoor range. The cadets enjoyed a last night disco to end each week as well as an example of a field service by the Padre.
Cadets and Adults of Bedfordshire & Hertfordshire Army Cadet Force enjoyed a very successful annual camp, and work has begun on Annual Camp 2024!!
