Suffolk Army Cadets have completed the first in what is to become an Annual Charity Event. The challenge, set by Commandant Colonel Rob Simpkin to all 23 Detachments within the County, was to collect donations of non-perishable foods and toiletries to be distributed to various local Food Banks.
In a 12-hour day on Saturday 10th of June, a group of ACF Adult Volunteer motorcyclists travelled 250 miles around Suffolk. Starting in Stowmarket, they visited many of the County’s Detachments to thank the Cadets for their efforts and to watch the donations being presented to local Food Bank representatives. The ride finished at the Ipswich Army Reserve Centre in the evening.
The Commandant posted a message to everyone "I would just like to thank all the Cadets, CFAV's "Riders" and Foodbank volunteers who have made our 1st Annual Foodbank collection a big success. I know it was a challenge in these difficult times but the total effort was outstanding, and will make a huge difference to many families in need."
