Adult training continues at Greater Manchester ACF

SMI Debbie Callaghan, County Media Officer, Greater Manchester ACF.

Over the last weekend adult training took place, mainly indoors due to the weather. Not sure who else loves snow like I do. It looks lovely at Holcombe Moor Training Camp.

The training taking place was Basic and Intermediate Instructor Courses (BIC & IIC) as well as First Aid at Work Training. This is run on weekends throughout the year by SSI Jason Spencer & SSI Paul Barber, for staff to renew their First Aid Training to ensure they remain current and competent whilst working with the cadets. The adult training for new adults is organised and run by Lt Col Paul Smillie, Deputy Commandant (Adult Training) and his dedicated and highly experienced training team.

On the Sunday, three of the new adults were congratulated by our Commandant, Col Catherine Harrison. PI's Logan Walter, Abigail Horner and Chris Hubbuck have now successfully completed their IIC Training. The next course for them before promotion to Sgt Instructor will be the Advanced Instructor Course. This usually takes place at Altcar Training Camp, Merseyside, and is for adult volunteers from around the Northwest.

The training of all new adults is designed to fit in with each adult on when they are available. If they miss one of the weekends, they can attend another one to ensure they complete all the necessary training needed to pass their courses to qualify them as Sgt Instructor.

Thank you to everyone for your commitment to Greater Manchester ACF.
