There were multiple activities taking place at the Cadet Training Centre, including the CHAMPION COMPANY COMPETITION, where a 10 person team from each Company was tested on various aspects of their ACF training, scoring on each discipline, with one Company being crowned CHAMPION COMPANY 2024.
The CHAMPION COMPANY FOR 2024 is ... D COMPANY.
The RUNNERS-UP were ... B COMPANY
Congratulations to both D Company and B Company on their success. A big well done to the teams from A, C & E Company for their fine efforts during the Competition.
COUNTY DRILL COMPETITION
Part of the competition but a separate competition in its own right is the County Drill Competition. The winners would be crowned COUNTY DRILL CHAMPIONS 2024, and the name being engraved onto the drill stick plinth for 2024 is ... E COMPANY! Congratulations!
CHAMPION CADET OF THE YEAR
The Champion Cadet of the Year Competition was also competed for over the weekend. This involved a number of Senior Cadets from each Company taking part in a competition to test their individual ACF skills. After a hard fought competition the winner of the competition was... Cadet CSM MALONE of D Company, who now proudly holds the title of CHAMPION CADET 2024!
The Runner up in the competition was Cadet SGT YEARDLEY of C Company.
Congratulations to both CSM Malone and SGT Yeardley, and well done to all the other competitors.
FAMILIARISATION DAY
Also taking place on the Saturday was our FAM day. This is when Potential Adult instructors attend the CTC, both to enable us to have a look at them and for them to cast their eye over YNW ACF. The Candidates attended a number of informative briefings (including a mandatory safeguarding briefing), giving them an in-depth look at what the ACF is all about.
The candidates gave a 5 minute talk to their fellow candidates on a subject of their choice. At the end of the process, the candidates attended an interview board. This enabled the Directing Staff to give feedback to the candidates and the candidates to give feedback on their experience of the process. The candidates were then informed as to whether or not they had been selected as suitable for service in the ACF. Happily, on this occasion, all of the candidates were successful!
Their next step was to carry out the swearing-in ceremony in front of the County Commandant, Colonel Hugh Gell. Colonel Gell then welcomed them into the ACF and, in particular, YNW ACF!
Congratulations and good luck with your Basic Training that you are now about to commence.
Also at the CTC this weekend were a good number of newly-qualified Sergeant Instructors who were put through some intensive Skill at Arms training, as part of their ongoing instructor development.
The Cadet Centre was absolutely buzzing with activity over the weekend, in no small part due to the dedicated efforts of our CFAVs who ensured these events could take place safely.
Well done to all involved with this weekends activities.
