  • 1st Northern Ireland Battalion ACF

This month seen RSM Keith Ogle “hand over” to the new RSM John Johnton and on this occasion the Battalion Commandant Sam Donnell also took the opportunity to present him with his long service medal in recognition of his 12 years service for the Army Cadet Force and wish him the best for the future.

After 17 years in the Royal Irish Regiment and Royal Irish rangers, RSM Keith Ogle joined the ACF in 2011.

Having been recruited by Major Bill Scott, he joined A Company and Enniskillen Open Detachment. Within 2 years he was then appointed the A Company Shooting Officer going on to lead the Company to Bisley over a number of years and successfully winning several competitions.

In 2016 he was then appointed the Company Sergeant Major (CSMI) and worked within the Company Head Quarters until successfully gaining the position of Regimental Sergeant Major April 2021.

RSM (Retd) Keith Ogle said:”

It has been a pleasure and privilege to finish my time within the 1st (NI) Battalion Army Cadet Force as the RSM and to hand over to RSM John Johnston who will do an outstanding job.

When I joined in 2011, I could never have imagined I would become the RSM. I have made so very good lifelong friends, but more importantly meeting and working with cadets, as they progressed into the adult world. To hear of them saying how much they loved cadets, it was the best years of their lives, and thanking the instructors who assisted them along the way to give them opportunities within and outside of the Battalion.

I wish the Commandant and all Officers,Non Commissioned Officers, staff and cadets all the best in the future as we move into 2024 and thank you for my time within the 1st (NI) Battalion Army Cadet Force”.
