Ex Telemark Challenger is a Cross-country skiing expeditionDelivered in the Setesdal Valley in southern Norway, offers a breathtaking winter adventure through a landscape of snow-covered forests, rolling hills, and frozen lakes. Known for its pristine natural beauty and well-maintained trails, the Setesdal Valley provides the perfect setting for both beginners and experienced skiers to explore the serene wilderness. As you glide through the crisp, clean air, surrounded by the peaceful silence of the Norwegian countryside, you’ll have the chance to connect with nature, build endurance, and experience the unique charm of Nordic winter sports in one of Norway’s most picturesque regions.

Cross-country skiing in Norway using the DNT (Den Norske Turistforening) hyttes, or mountain cabins, requires a combination of physical fitness, basic skiing proficiency, and essential outdoor skills. Participants will be taught the skills required to ski in varied terrain, including uphill climbs, downhill sections, and potentially deep snow, often while carrying a backpack with necessary gear. It is important to be able to read trail maps, follow marked routes, and manage time effectively to reach each hytte safely before nightfall. Knowledge of layering clothing, cold weather safety, and basic first aid is also valuable, as conditions in the Norwegian wilderness can change quickly. While many of the trails are well-maintained, a level of self-sufficiency and preparation is essential for safely enjoying the freedom and beauty of Norway’s extensive cross-country skiing network.
