ACF Women 40 Project Officer

Location: Home Based

Full Time – 1 Year Fixed Term Contract

Commencing – Monday 12th November 2018

The Army Cadet Force Association (ACFA) is seeking a home based, proven project manager to lead on ACF national and regional events and projects to celebrate the 40th anniversary of women in the ACF on behalf of Headquarters Regional Command (HQ RC).

This post requires a self-starter, who has excellent leadership and communication skills and a good working knowledge of the Army Cadet Force.

This is a part time 1 year fixed term contract and will consist of a 24 hour working week – there may be a requirement for some limited evening and weekend work and in this case Time Off in Lieu (TOIL) will be authorised.

Bar Steward

Location: Cadet Training Centre, Frimley

Permanent

Commencing – As soon as Possible

The Army Cadet Force Association (ACFA) is seeking a Bar Steward, working at the Cadet Training Centre at Frimley. The Bar Steward is directly responsible to the House Manager for serving alcohol and soft drinks in the bar and assisting with the control of stock and cash handling. They will also be expected to carry out general stewarding duties. This is a permanent position and will consist of a 32 hour working week, Sunday to Thursday evening at a starting annual salary of £12,860. A copy of the Job Description can be found here.

The Cadet Training Centre, Frimley Park is the National Training Centre for the Combined Cadet Force and the Army Cadet Force. The majority of instruction is carried out for students from these organisations attending week long residential courses. Courses normally assemble mid Sunday afternoon and disperse PM Fridays. There are in addition 10-12 weekend conferences scheduled throughout the year.

Trawl for CFAVs to accompany the Canadian Exchange Programme with the Royal Canadian Army Cadets

The ACFA is looking for Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (ACF or CCF) to escort UK cadets to Canada and Canadian cadets in the UK during the summer 2019 Canadian exchange programme. The exchange takes place from 4th July to 18th August 2019.

There are two types of post available:

  • Senior Escort Officers must be commissioned. Ideally they should have taken part in a previous exchange although this is not compulsory.
  • Escort Officers.

UK Cadets visiting Canada – Ex OAK LEAF

There are four Senior Escort Officer and three Escort Officer posts available for the outbound exchange. This is an exciting opportunity to escort UK cadets on a seven week course in Canada. On the courses you will take part in a range of activities that may include: canoeing, kayaking, climbing, mountain biking, horse riding, glacier climbing, shooting, wild camping, trekking and sports.

Interviews will take place at Cadets Branch, HQ Regional Command, Montgomery House, Aldershot in January 2019. Successful candidates will be required to attend the National Selection Event at Cwrt-y-Gollen, Crickhowell which will take place 10th-14th April 2019 – where candidates will be required to demonstrate that they meet the minimum fitness standards that are required of cadets participating in the respective courses. In addition to accompanying cadets on the exchange programme all successful applicants will be required to attend a briefing day prior to deployment.

Canadian Cadets in the UK – Ex MAPLE LEAF

There are two Escort Officer posts available for the inbound exchange. In this role you will be accompanying and leading some of the activities for the Canadian cadets across a four phase exchange programme, which includes a cultural phase, camp phase, AT phase and battlefield study.

This role is offered as a single five week post.

Interviews will take place at Cadets Branch, HQ Regional Command, Montgomery House, Aldershot in January 2019.

Accounting Apprenticeship

An opportunity has arisen to take the first step towards a career in finance with an apprenticeship at the Combined Cadet Force and Army Cadet Force Associations (CCFA/ACFA).

The position is available from September 2018 and will see the post-holder work towards an AAT Level 3 Advanced Accounting qualification.

The apprenticeship, which is based at the HQ in London, is offered in partnership with the College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London at the Tottenham Centre.

The successful candidate will complete a 14-week pre-Apprenticeship Course (spending three days a week at college and two days in the CCFA/ACFA Finance Department) which will result in the award of the AAT Level 2 Foundation Certificate in Accounting. This will be followed by a 12-month AAT Level 3 Advanced Accounting qualification (consisting of one day a week at college and four days' practical experience in the Finance Department).

Applicants must have five GCSEs at Grade C or above which must include Maths and English (or are anticipated to achieve these grades this summer). Experience of the cadet forces will be an advantage.
