Remembrance Sunday is a historic and deeply meaningful event in the UK’s calendar. It honours centuries-old traditions and the sacrifices of those who served in the armed forces.

This year, Rossall School Combined Cadet Force (CCF) and Northumbria Army Cadet Force (ACF), were proud to take part in the Remembrance Ceremony at the Cenotaph in London.

Remembrance Activities

While cadets from London Sectors were putting their best foot forward at the Lord Mayor’s Show, Cadets and Adult Volunteers from Rossall School CCF and Northumbria ACF supported the Royal British Legion at their annual Festival of Remembrance held at the grand Royal Albert Hall. Cadets were on hand to provide assistance to guests and raise vital funds for the RBL’s ongoing work. Cdt Sergeant Louisa Bradburn and Cdt Staff Sergeant Lockhart also had the honour of representing both the CCF and ACF as they were selected to be the national banner bearers for each organisation.

A Day of Reflection and Tribute at the Whitehall Remembrance Parade

The Cadets and Adult Volunteers donned their uniforms again on Sunday for the Remembrance Parade on Whitehall. Remembrance Sunday, observed on the second Sunday of November, commemorates the people who have served and sacrificed in the British and Commonwealth armed forces. The focal point of this event was the Remembrance Ceremony at the Cenotaph on Whitehall, where thousands gathered to pay tribute to the fallen.

The Army Cadets, alongside veterans, members of the armed forces, and public officials, formed part of the solemn parade that honoured those who have served in conflicts from the First World War to present-day operations. Army Cadets joined over 7,000 veterans, service personnel and other organisations to march past the cenotaph, lay a wreath and march around to Horse Guards, where His Royal Highness, The Prince of Wales, took the salute on behalf of His Majesty, The King.
