On 18th January, Peterborough’s four Detachments, The Corps of Drums, Fletton, Walton and Talavera, came together to run an open day for prospective new cadets and their families. Around 100 people attended, and were given sample cadet activity demonstrations organised and run by the cadets themselves. This included drill, first aid, skill at arms, and fieldcraft. The event was clearly a great success in terms of the number of visitors and their level of engagement.
SI Podzuns (Detachment Commander, Walton) said: “Saturday was an amazing opportunity for 1 Company to showcase what we do. We had cadets involved from every detachment, and welcomed over 140 visitors to our HQ. The cadets were amazing advocates, telling the guests about their experiences, and at the same time showing them the confidence and values that we develop.”
