Kent ACF Starts the First of Three Annual Camps

To make sure as many cadets as possible can take part in a week-long residential camp, Kent ACF have organised three separate events with the July camp now underway. This week, Two, Three and Four Star training cadets will be taking part in a mix activities, while the One Star training cadets will have opportunities in either August or October to also participate in a camp.

Day 1

Saturday, 26th July

This afternoon cadets from all over Kent arrived at their new home for the next week and went about the initial process of getting settled into accommodation and getting used to the layout of a new camp. You can feel the excitement in the air as cadets reunite with old friends and receive their first full briefing with an oputlinem of what to look forward to over the coming days.

Day 2

Sunday 27th July

The first full day of training kicked in straight after breakfast with Two Star Cadets taking part in either Navigation or Adventurous training while the Three Star Cadets also got stuck into Navigation and the Four Stars started their four-day Fieldcraft course.

Day 3

Monday 28th July

Cadets today rotated activities with Two Star cadets taking part in either Fieldcraft or Navigation while all Three and Four Star cadets enjoyed a full day of Adventurous Training with Kayaking, Canoeing and raft building, even the staff got to play!

Day 4

Tuesday 29th July

Today saw cadets work mainly on Fieldcraft, with just the Three Star Cadets continuing with Navigation assessments. The weather wasn’t great to start with but picked up in the afternoon. Check our Facebook Page for lots of new photos.

Day 5

Wednesday 30th July

Fieldcraft all-round for all Star Levels today. The Two Star cadets have been working in two groups with one back in this evening and the other staying out. Both the Three and Four Star cadets took time out to prep for their deployment to the field and are also both now out on the area.

Day 6

Thursday 31st August

Day 6 of camp started off with some fairly grim weather but all cadets, on and off camp, carried on regardless and maintained amazing morale by working together and looking after each other.
As training continued, the weather picked up and everyone achieved their objectives for the day.
The 3 and 4 Star cadets carried on with their Fieldcraft training working on a mix of orders, section attacks and ambushes. The 2 star cadets that returned from the field yesterday started their Navigation training while the 2 star cadets that had been in the field came back to camp and set about cleaning and sorting stores.

Day 7

Friday 1st August

The final day of annual camp was cram packed with activities right up until the last minute with all cadres training as late as possible before the final parade.
Half of the 2 Star cadets did their Navigation assessment while the other half had a full day of Adventurous Training. The senior cadets were busy too with the 3 stars sorting kit and cleaning weapons and the 4 stars completing their final assessment for the week.
Our awesome Padre was also out talking to the cadets and held a final service with the 4 Stars.

Final Parade

Friday 1st August

After training on Friday evening, all cadets and instructors rushed to get themselves cleaned up and smart ready for the final parade of camp. This involved a short talk from the Commandant, several awards and star passes, a full parade through camp (see earlier video), all rounded off nicely with a BBQ that was served to the cadets by instructors.
