Army Cadet Raises Over £800 for ACCT UK
Cadet Under Officer Ewan Diyar from Leicestershire, Northamptonshire & Rutland Army Cadet Force (ACF) has been recognised for his outstanding dedication, leadership and commitment to helping others, receiving both an ACCT UK Excellence Award and a Praiseworthy Action certificate.
In October 2025, Cadet Under Officer Diyar completed his first-ever 10km run to raise money for ACCT UK (the Army Cadet Charitable Trust UK), which supports life-changing opportunities and experiences for young people in the Army Cadets.
Despite juggling his A-level studies, mock examinations and cadet responsibilities, he independently organised his fundraising challenge, demonstrating determination and a commitment to giving back to an organisation that had provided him with so many opportunities.
Completing the race in an impressive one hour and eight minutes, Cadet Under Officer Diyar raised more than £800 for the charity. He also marked the occasion with a memorable gesture, crossing the finish line with a perfectly timed ‘eyes right’ to fellow cadets who had gathered to cheer him on.
Giving Back to Future Generations of Cadets
For Cadet Under Officer Diyar, the challenge was about more than completing his first 10km race. It was a chance to ensure future generations of cadets could benefit from the same experiences that shaped his own cadet journey.
Reflecting on his motivation, he explained:
“Without ACCT UK, cadets like myself would never have the chance to access such amazing experiences, and so I felt it was only right to give back to the organisation so future cadets can also enjoy these opportunities.”
His dedication and proactive approach to fundraising impressed those around him. ACCT UK’s Fundraising and Corporate Engagement Manager praised his professionalism, describing him as polite, organised and driven, qualities that perfectly reflect the values of the Army Cadets.
His Commandant, Colonel Calver, also praised his achievements, describing Cadet Under Officer Diyar as “an inspiration for other cadets”.
In recognition of his fundraising efforts, Cadet Under Officer Diyar received the 2025 ACCT UK Excellence Award, celebrating his commitment to supporting others and making a positive difference.
Putting Army Cadet First Aid Skills into Action
Cadet Under Officer Diyar’s achievements did not stop with his fundraising success.
In March 2026, he received a Praiseworthy Action certificate after demonstrating exceptional composure and quick thinking during a medical emergency.
When a civilian suffered a seizure, Cadet Under Officer Diyar was first on the scene and immediately stepped in to help. Drawing on his first aid knowledge, he called an ambulance, managed the situation, and kept the woman safe until paramedics arrived to take over.
His actions demonstrated the practical skills and confidence he developed through the Army Cadets, particularly his ability to stay calm and respond effectively when someone needs help.
An Inspiration to Fellow Army Cadets
From raising hundreds of pounds for charity to helping someone during a medical emergency, Cadet Under Officer Diyar has demonstrated the positive impact that young people can make in their communities.
His achievements highlight the values of leadership, selflessness, resilience, and service that the Army Cadet experience encourages.
Through his determination to give back and his willingness to help others, Cadet Under Officer Diyar has set an outstanding example for fellow cadets, showing how the skills, confidence and experiences gained through the Army Cadets can make a real difference.
