Black Watch Cadets Hit Blackpool for a Day of Fun and Adventure

There are few places more closely associated with Scottish October traditions than Blackpool. For generations, Scottish families have made the journey south during the school holidays to enjoy a day at the seaside, experience the famous attractions and take in the spectacular Blackpool Illuminations.

Keeping that tradition alive, Black Watch Battalion Cadets at Blackpool enjoyed a fantastic day out at Blackpool Pleasure Beach.

A Day Packed with Fun and Adventure

The day started early as cadets and Adult Volunteers set off for Blackpool. Once they arrived at Pleasure Beach, the focus quickly turned to enjoying everything the attraction had to offer.

From exciting rides to plenty of laughter, there was something for everyone. For many cadets, it was also an opportunity to take on some of the bigger rides and test their courage!

However, the day was about much more than simply enjoying the attractions.

Building Friendships and Memories

Days like this are an important part of the cadet experience. They give cadets the opportunity to spend time together away from their normal training environment while strengthening friendships and building team spirit.

Furthermore, shared experiences like these create memories that cadets can look back on for years to come.

The Army Cadet experience is about Fun, Adventure, Action and Friendship, and the Blackpool trip certainly delivered all four.

Keeping a Scottish Tradition Alive

For generations, October has been a popular time for Scots to visit Blackpool. The combination of the school holidays, affordable travel, seaside attractions and the famous illuminations has helped make the journey a much-loved tradition.

This year, Black Watch Battalion Cadets became part of that tradition, enjoying their own day of adventure, laughter and friendship.

The Memories Last

The rides eventually came to an end and it was time to make the journey home. Nevertheless, the memories made throughout the day will last far longer.

The rides might finish, but the memories last a lifetime.

For our cadets, that is what days like this are all about — having fun, building friendships and creating experiences that they will remember long after their time in the Cadets.
