Still Going Strong: LT Takes on New Challenges After His Tenure as Colonel Cadets Wales
So, what do you do when your time as Colonel Cadets Wales comes to an end?
For Colonel LT Williams, affectionately known as LT, the answer was simple – keep doing what he loves.
Having completed his tenure with 160 (Welsh) Brigade, LT wasted no time in returning to two of his greatest passions: adventurous training and supporting the cadet movement. Determined to remain actively involved with the young people and adult volunteers of Clwyd and Gwynedd Army Cadets, he embarked on a programme of refresher courses across a variety of disciplines and sports, ensuring his skills remained current and his enthusiasm as strong as ever.
A lifelong rugby enthusiast, LT has also continued to pursue his love of the game. His dedication and commitment were recently rewarded when he was selected to represent Wales in Masters Rugby League against Scotland with another game lined up at Cardiff Arms Park.
Masters Rugby League is a thriving and inclusive version of the sport designed for players aged 35 and over for men and 30 and over for women. The emphasis is firmly on enjoyment, fitness, friendship and participation, with modified rules allowing players to continue competing safely while enjoying all the camaraderie and excitement that rugby brings.
For LT, the opportunity to pull on the Welsh jersey once again is a testament to his enduring passion for sport and staying active. Summing up his thoughts perfectly, he said:
“You don’t stop playing rugby because you get old – you get old because you stop playing rugby.”
It is a philosophy that clearly continues to guide LT as he embraces new challenges and opportunities with the same energy and enthusiasm that have defined his career.
